Fasching 2008 Recap

On Saturday, January 12, 2008, DFV hosted a Fasching Dance at the St. Charles VFW. Thanks to the Phenix for their outstanding entertainment. The dinner was catered by Ed Schleining of the Wurst Kitchen and the Black Forest Café. We tried a few new things this year and I think the Tuba playing contest was a lot of fun for participants and audience alike. Our winners were: Kids: Matthias Dietz; Non-brass players: Barbara Shauz, ( I hope the spelling is close); and for the brass playing contestants: Gary Dietz. Thanks to all that participated and especially to the youngsters that set a high mark for the adults. In the children's costume march we had a large group and the judges had a hard time. However, the winners were Alekza Roth, Raquel Roth, Vivian Rizzato, and Carilyn Mannen. In the adult category, Sharon and Don Kramer and Cobi Stein were the winners. Thanks to the judges as well as all those that came decked out in costume. Don Kramer was a lucky winner as he also won the 50/50 raffle. Good going to Don. Regina Kania provided several great door prizes and gifts for the children. Thanks for all your efforts. We had other great prizes donated by the Schnitzel Platz, Trader Joe's and The Wurst Kitchen. A gift certificate from Oberweiss was also given. Several theatre type posters were donated by Frank Skupien. They were a real hit. Four life size posters where people could have their pictures taken as pirates, young tipsy lady, or a parrot were available. The artists came from the Roth family. Fasching was well attended by DANK groups from the area: DANK North, DANK South, DANK West, DANK Lake County, and DANK Northern Suburbs.Where were YOU, DANK Fox Valley??????
