Scholarship for German Language Studies
Fox Valley GATES (German American Team of Educational
Sponsors) serves to acknowledge the educational accomplishments and
outstanding contributions of students studying the German language.
Fox Valley GATES seeks to help motivate students academically
and rewards both improvement as well as high achievement. Through
a process of reinforcement, recognition and reward, Fox Valley GATES
recognizes successful students each year with scholarships for continued
German Language studies.
-
The scholarship money will be awarded to the top applicants
upon receipt of proof of acceptance and full time enrollment in
a college or university including German language courses.
-
This year one scholarship of $1000.00 will be awarded
to the winning applicant and presented during the High School awards
ceremonies or other appropriate ceremony.
-
Scholarship is to be used to cover expenses for the
2008/2009 academic year of higher education.
-
Applicants will be judged by an independent GATES
panel based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities
relating to German, written essay and letter of recommendation.
-
Applicant must be a graduating senior in 2008 from
a High School. These
High Schools are either located in the Fox Valley area or have volunteered
at and supported DANK Fox Valley functions.
-
Applicants must be Illinois residents.
-
If a recipient drops out of school while the scholarship
award is in effect, funds must be returned commensurate with the
school year remaining. (For example, for one-half of the academic
year, one-half of the scholarship award must be repaid.)
